Women’s Swimming & Diving Splits Tri-Meet

WILLIMANTIC, Conn. – The Bridgewater State University women's swimming & diving team split a tri-meet hosted by Little East Conference foe Eastern Connecticut State University on Saturday afternoon at the ECSU Sports Center.

The Bears (3-7) posted a 170-85 victory over Gordon College, and dropped a 166-94 decision to the host Warriors.

Grad student Katie Werra (East Taunton, Mass.) captured top honors in the 200 freestyle with a season-best time of 2:24.54, while sophomore Olivia Ranck (Wilbraham, Mass.) placed first in the 50 backstroke with a time of 30.70 seconds.

Ranck also finished second in the 500 freestyle (5:48.85), while the 200 freestyle relay squad featuring Ranck and seniors Jordyn Maxim (Lakeville, Mass.), Makayla Paquin (North Easton, Mass.) and Danielle Vissering (North Andover, Mass.) placed second with a time of 1:50.41.

Freshmen Brianna Matte (Cumberland, R.I.) and Olivia Pelletier (East Kingston, N.H.) also added second place performances for the Bears. Matte recorded a season-best time of 28.05 seconds in the 50 freestyle and posted a time of 1:09. 46 in the 100 backstroke. Pelletier finished second in the 1,000 freestyle (2:51.08) and 100 breaststroke (1:21.01).

Bridgewater State will host the BSU Fast Chance Meet on Wednesday evening at six o'clock.
