Women’s Swimming & Diving Places First at BSU Invitational

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University women's swimming & diving team hosted the BSU Invitational on Saturday at the Moriarty Pool.

The Bears placed first out of eight teams at the 20-event meet with 507 points. Westfield State University (330 pts.) and Rhode Island College (271 pts.) rounded out the top three teams.

Sophomore Olivia Ranck (Wilbraham, Mass.) won two events and swam a leg on the winning 200 freestyle relay. Ranck posted career-best times in the 200 backstroke (2:20.25) and 400 individual medley (5:04.01) to capture top honors in each event.

The Bears' 200 freestyle relay quartet featuring Ranck and seniors Jordyn Maxim (Lakeville, Mass.), Danielle Vissering (North Andover, Mass.) and Makayla Paquin (North Easton, Mass.) posted a winning time of 1:47.89.

Graduate student Alexa Wilson (Centerville, Mass.) won the one-meter diving competition with a career-best score of 221.60 points.

The BSU swimming and diving teams are off until Saturday, January 8th when the Bears host a tri-meet with Trinity College and Wellesley College.
