Women's Swimming & Diving Posts 98-47 Win Over UMass Dartmouth

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University women's swimming & diving team cruised to a 98-47 victory over visiting UMass Dartmouth on Saturday afternoon at the Moriarty Pool.

The Bears improve to 2-4 in dual meet competition on the season, while the Corsairs fall to 1-4.

Bridgewater State recorded first-place points in seven of the ten events on the afternoon. The Bears swam the last three events as exhibitions.

Senior Makayla Paquin (North Easton, Mass.), freshmen Olivia Pelletier (East Kingston, N.H.) and Brianna Matte (Cumberland, R.I.), and sophomore Olivia Ranck (Wilbraham, Mass.) opened the meet with a victory in the 200 medley relay as the foursome posted a time of 2:06.43.

Matte added a win in the 100 individual medley (1:10.35), while Pelletier recorded a season-best time of 1:01.43 to capture top honors in the 100 freestyle.

Freshman Brynn Murray (Chelmsford, Mass.) was the first to touch the wall in the 200 freestyle as she posted a personal-best time of 2:09.84.

Graduate student Alexa Wilson (Centerville, Mass.) won the one-meter diving competition with a career-best score of 220.00 points. Wilson has hit the 200-point mark in each of the Bears' five dual meets this season.

Seniors Jordyn Maxim (Lakeville, Mass.) and Danielle Vissering (North Andover, Mass.) rounded out Bridgewater State's individual event winners. Maxim placed first in the 100 buttefly (1:10.12), while Vissering won the 50 freestyle (27.28).

The quartet of Matte, Murray, Pelletier and Ranck posted the top time in the 200 freestyle relay (1:51.02) to close out the meet.

The Bears are back in the pool on Saturday, December 4th when they host the BSU Invitational at noon.
