Women's Soccer Blanks Framingham, 3-0

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – Sophomore forward Audra McDuffie (Millbury, Mass.) tallied two goals and an assist to lead the visiting Bridgewater State University women's soccer team to a 3-0 shutout victory over Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) rival Framingham State University on Saturday afternoon at Maple Street Field.

Senior midfielder Delaney Langton (Scituate, R.I.) added a goal and an assist for the Bears who improve to 3-3 on the season and 1-0 in the MASCAC. The host Rams fall to 2-6-1 overall and 0-2 in conference play. Bridgewater State is now 25-12-2 all-time versus the Rams including 12-7-1 on the road.

McDuffie headed home a corner kick from Langton just 5:45 into the contest to give the visitors the early 1-0 lead. McDuffie potted her second goal of the game and third of the season less than ten minutes later with junior forward Michelle Belcher (Norton, Mass.) picking up the helper. Belcher split the defense with an outstanding pass and McDuffie fired home a shot from the top of the 18.

The Bears would take a 2-0 lead into the intermission.

Langton capped of the scoring with her first goal of the season in the 61st minute. The play started from the outside as freshman midfielder Bailey Brown (Plymouth, Mass.) found McDuffie at the top of the 18. McDuffie slipped a short pass to Langton who delivered a shot into the back of the net.

The Bears finished with a 19-6 shot advantage for the game as well as a 6-3 edge in corner kick attempts. All three of the Rams' corner kicks came in the first half.

BSU senior goalkeeper Tory Viola-Laughery (Brockton, Mass.) made one save as she recorded her third shutout of the season.

Freshman netminder Jetta Oskirko (Lancaster, Mass.) turned aside ten shots in the setback for the Rams

Both teams are back in action on Wednesday. The Bears host Roger Williams University at seven o'clock, while the Rams travel to Wellesley College for a four o'clock game with the Blue.
