Women's Soccer Falls to Keene State in Double Overtime, 1-0

KEENE, N.H. – Junior midfielder Amanda Marshall (Bow, N.H.) scored in the 104th minute to lift the Keene State College women's soccer team to a 1-0 double overtime victory over visiting Bridgewater State University on Thursday evening at Dr. Ron Butcher Field.

The Owls improve to 2-4-1 on the season, while the visiting Bears fall to 2-3. Keene State holds a decided 20-2-1 advantage (12-0 at home) in the all-time series which dates back to 1997.

Marshall scored on a breakaway on a perfect feed from sophomore forward Maya Baker (Manchester-By-The-Sea, Mass.) to provide the game-winning heroics for the hosts. After corralling the pass from Baker, Marshall raced past the last BSU defender and chipped a shot over the BSU goalkeeper.

The Owls finished with a slight 10-9 shot advantage for the game, while the Bears held a 7-4 edge in corner kick attempts.

Senior goalkeeper Abigail Terrinca (Ludlow, Mass.) turned aside five shots to record her first shutout of the season for Keene State.

Senior netminder Tory Viola-Laughery (Brockton, Mass.) made three saves between the pipes for Bridgewater State.

Junior forward Michelle Belcher (Norton, Mass.) paced the BSU offense with four shots including three on frame. Belcher had a scoring opportunity late in regulation by was stopped by Terrinca. Sophomore forward Audra McDuffie (Millbury, Mass.) put a shot on frame in the 104th minute, but Terrinca was also able to come up with the key save to set the stage for Marshall's game-winner.

Both teams are back in action on Saturday afternoon. The Bears travel to Framingham State University for a one o'clock Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) game with the Rams, while the Owls entertain Little East Conference (LEC) rival Western Connecticut State University at two.
