WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University wrestling team split a tri-match hosted by Williams College on Saturday afternoon at Lasell Gymnasium.
The Bears (1-2) posted a 42-18 victory over Hunter College and dropped a 37-5 decision to host Williams.
Junior 184-pounder Edwin Morales (Philadelphia, Mass.) went 2-0 on the afternoon to pace Bridgewater State.
Morales recorded a forfeit victory against Hunter and then notched a tough 7-4 decision over William Smith of Williams. Morales improves to 7-2 on the season with the two wins.
Freshman 197-pounder Jeremias Collazo (Haverhill, Mass.) posted a 9-4 decision over Elias Chen of Williams. Collazo is now 4-7 on the year.
Junior 125-pounder Wilson Gomes (Fogo, Cape Verde) pinned (1:23) Diego Perez of Hunter in the first bout of the afternoon, and then dropped a close 3-2 decision to David Yeh of Williams. Gomes sees his record go to 15-4 on the campaign.
The Bears are back in action next Saturday when they compete at the Wildcat Open hosted by Johnson & Wales University.
