Wrestling Bears Fall to NYU, 29-3

DANBURY, Conn. - The Bridgewater State College wrestling team dropped a 29-3 decision to New York University this afternoon in a match that took place at Danbury High School in Danbury, Connecticut.

With the loss, the Bears fall to 2-2 in dual meet action this season, while NYU improves to 3-1.

NYU won nine of the ten bouts on the afternoon highlighted by a 19-2 technical fall victory by freshman Matthew Magill (Malvern, PA) at 149.

Senior heavyweight James Layman (Waldwick, NJ) posted a 5-3 victory over Bridgewater State senior Tim Ferreira (Danbury, CT) in a bout which took three overtime periods to decide. 

The Bears lone victory came from freshman Andrew Frazer (West Hartford, MA) who posted a 5-2 win in the 197-pound weight class.

Bridgewater State is now off until January 13th when the Bears compete at the Plymouth State Invitational.
