Women's Lacrosse Falls to Framingham State in MASCAC Semifinals

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – Top-seeded Framingham State University posted a 14-7 win over #4 Bridgewater State University in the semifinal round of the 2024 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Lacrosse Tournament on Thursday night at Maple Street Field.

The Rams (14-3) advance to the MASCAC Tournament championship game for the sixth straight season and will host #2 Westfield State University on Saturday night at seven o'clock. The Bears end the season with an overall record of 8-11.

Hannah Guerin (Cumberland, R.I.) notched four goals and four assists, and Leah Green (Chelmsford, Mass.) scored six goals to lead the way for Framingham.

Erin McIntyre (Tewksbury, Mass.) paced Bridgewater with three goals. The Bears also received two goals apiece from Savannah Herrington (Kinnelon, N.J.) and Meredith Sylvia (South Dartmouth, Mass.), while Camryn Gonsalves (East Bridgewater, Mass.) dished out a pair of assists.

The Rams outshot the Bears 17-8 in the first half and led 7-2 at the break. Six different players scored for Framingham over the first 30 minutes. Green potted a pair of first-half goals while Guerin tallied a goal and two assists.

The game was delayed by weather moments after Guerin had opened the scoring early in the first quarter.

Two goals by McIntyre and one from Herrington over the first eight minutes of the third quarter helped cut the BSU deficit to three at 8-5. Framingham, however, answered with five straight goals, two from Guerin and three by Green, to put the game out of reach.

The Rams finished with a 32-24 shot advantage for the game as well as a 14-11 edge in draw controls. Regan Fein (North Attleboro, Mass.) led all players with seven draw controls while Rachel Erickson (Dunstable, Mass.) corralled five draws.

McIntyre and Herrington finished with four draw controls apiece for the visitors.

Both teams went 9-for-15 on clear attempts and combined for 37 turnovers. The Bears went just 1-for-5 on the free position while the Rams converted 2 of 4 free position attempts.

Framingham goalkeeper Isabella DiMare (Wakefield, Mass.) made ten saves to record her 13th win of the season. Laura Giovaniello (Walpole, Mass.) also turned aside ten shots in the setback for the visitors.

Notes: Framingham has won nine of the last ten meetings of the two teams…Bridgewater holds a 10-9 lead in the all-time series...The Rams are 4-0 against the Bears in MASCAC Tournament play.
