Women's Lacrosse Drops 20-7 MASCAC Decision to Framingham State

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – Sophomore attack Hannah Guerin (Cumberland, R.I.) tallied five goals and three assists to lead the Framingham State University women's lacrosse team to a 20-7 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) victory over visiting Bridgewater State University on Saturday afternoon at Maple Street Field.

The Rams improve to 6-6 on the season and 3-0 in the MASCAC, while the Bears fall to 5-7 overall and 1-2 in conference play. Framingham State has won each of the last five meetings of the two teams, while Bridgewater State holds a 9-5 lead in the all-time series.

Sophomore midfielder Regan Fein (North Attleboro, Mass.) added four goals and three assists for the Rams, while junior attack Madison Skiff (Granby, Conn.) checked in with three goals and a helper and sophomore midfielder Rachel Erickson (Dunstable, Mass.) netted three goals.

Graduate defender Kelsi Brennan (Dedham, Mass.) paced Bridgewater State with a pair of goals, while senior attack Jaqueline DeLorey (Westwood, Mass.) and freshmen Camryn Gonsalves (East Bridgewater, Mass.), Nina Liquori (Agawam, Mass.), Erin McIntyre (Tewksbury, Mass.) and Melanie McClay (Plymouth, Mass.) also found the back of the net for the Bears.

Framingham led from start to finish as the Rams jumped out to a 5-1 lead after one period and took a 12-4 advantage into the intermission. The Rams outscored the Bears 8-3 in the second half and the final score of 20-7 also marked the largest lead of the game.

FSU junior goalkeeper Alexis Burleigh (Vernon, Conn.) turned aside 13 shots to record her sixth win of the season. Junior Olivia Kerrigan (Braintree, Mass.) and freshman Brooke La Torra (Oak Park, Calif.) combined to make seven saves between the pipes for the Bears.

Framingham held a 34-32 shot advantage for the game with 27 of the Rams' 34 attempts on frame. Bridgewater finished with a 19-12 edge in draw controls. The Rams went 17-for-22 on clear attempts while the Bears successfully converted 9 of 13 clears.

McIntyre led all players with seven draw control, while Brennan tallied four draw controls to go along with four ground balls. Framingham junior defender Liz Dollard (Guilderland, N.Y.) recorded a game-high eight ground balls.

The MASCAC schedule continues for both teams next week. The Bears travel to Massachusetts Maritime Academy on Tuesday night for a seven o'clock game with the Buccaneers, while the Rams head to Worcester State University on Wednesday evening to take on the Lancers at seven.
