Kylie Grassi Named MASCAC Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – For the third time this season, Bridgewater State University freshman guard Kylie Grassi has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week.

A native of Plymouth, Massachusetts, Grassi averaged 12 points, two rebounds, 1.5 assists and a steal in two games during the MASCAC Tournament. She also shot 36.4% (4-11) from three-point range.

Grassi tallied 13 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals in an 84-71 semifinal round win over Westfield State, and 11 points, one rebound, one assist and one blocked shot in an 84-69 championship game setback to Framingham State.

In 22 games this season, Grassi averaged 9.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.5 steals while shooting 36.4% (71-195) from the floor and 76.4% (55-72) from the charity stripe. She currently ranks third in the MASCAC in free throw shooting.

Grassi also earned MASCAC Rookie of the Week honors on January 24th and February 7th.

The BSU women’s basketball team wrapped up the 2022 campaign with an overall record of 20-8 including a 10-2 mark in the MASCAC standings. Seeded second in the MASCAC Tournament, the Bears posted a 79-40 first round win over MCLA followed by the 84-71 semifinal round victory over Westfield before falling to the top-seeded Rams in the conference championship game.
