Kylie Grassi Named MASCAC Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – For the second time this season, Bridgewater State University freshman guard Kylie Grassi has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week.

A native of Plymouth, Massachusetts, Grassi averaged 17 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists and a steal in a 3-0 MASCAC week for the Bears, while shooting 51.5% (17-33) from the floor, 66.7 (2-3) from three-point range and 71.4% (15-21) at the free throw line.

Grassi scored a career-high 26 points and added five rebounds, four assists and three steals in a 70-64 win on the road over Worcester State. She also notched 14 points, two rebounds, three assists and a blocked shot in a 93-42 victory over Salem State, and 11 points, four rebounds and an assist in a 65-62 road win over the Vikings.

In 17 games this season, Grassi is averaging 9.1 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.4 steals while shooting 78.5% (51-65) from the charity stripe. She currently ranks second in the MASCAC, behind teammate Sydney Bradbury, in free throw shooting.

Grassi also earned the MASCAC Rookie of the Week honor back on January 24th.

The BSU women’s basketball team is presently 13-7 on the season and 5-2 in the MASCAC. Winners of three straight games, the Bears travel to MCLA this evening (Feb. 7) for a 5:30 conference game with the Trailblazers.
