Katie Costa joined the Bridgewater State softball coaching staff in the summer of 2022.

Costa is a 2014 graduate of Roger Williams University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice in addition to a minor in networking & security and graphic design. While at Roger Williams, Costa was a two-year starter for the RWU softball team and led the Hawks in hits as a sophomore, while earning Commonwealth Coast Conference Honorable Mention honors.

Costa is a veteran coach who is well-versed in every aspect of coaching at the collegiate level. She spent the 2022 season as an assistant at nearby Wheaton College. Prior to that, Costa served for four seasons on the coaching staff at Rhode Island College. During her stint at RIC, the Anchorwomen were ranked among the top 25 in the nation in both batting average and on-base percentage for the 2019 and 2020 campaigns in addition to standing among the top 30 both years in runs scored. 

The Rhode Island native's coaching experience goes beyond the college level. She has served as a head coach within the travel ball scene for the New England Phoenix since 2020 and has developed a number of student-athletes, who went on to play college softball. Prior to her time with the Phoenix, Costa skippered the CLCF 18u Bombers for six seasons, where she was also an integral part of her players' development and preparation for play at the collegiate level.

The former Roger Williams University standout began her coaching career as the mentor for the Cranston High School West Junior Varsity squad for two seasons and led the team to the Rhode Island Interscholastic League State Championship in 2018.

Costa also attended New England Institute of Technology in Rhode Island and earned an Associate of Science in graphics, multimedia and web design. She was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and was the Tech Student of the Year in 2016.
