Kelley Reichert Named MASCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second straight week and third time this season, Bridgewater State University senior righthander Kelley Reichert has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Pitcher of the Week.

Reichert went 3-0 in the circle in a 3-1 week for the Bears with two complete games and a shutout. The Milford, Massachusetts product struck out 21 batters in 21 innings of work and posted a 0.67 earned run average on the week.

Reichert tossed a complete game, four-hit shutout and fanned four in a 2-0 MASCAC win over Westfield State. She also won both games of a conference sweep of Fitchburg State, giving up just one unearned run with a season-high nine strikeouts in a complete game 4-1 victory over Fitchburg, and allowing two runs (one earned) over 5 2/3 innings of relief while striking out seven in a 7-6 win over the Falcons.

In 22 appearances in the circle this season including ten starts, Reichert is 11-4 with eight complete games to go along with 86 strikeouts and a 2.41 ERA over 101 2/3 innings of work. She currently leads the MASCAC in wins and ranks second in appearances, innings pitched and strikeouts. She is also fourth among the conference leaders in ERA and fifth in complete games.

In 77 career appearances (52 starts) for the Bears, Reichert is 36-23 with 39 complete games, seven shutouts and one save. She has also fanned 261 batters over 393 1/3 innings and has a career ERA of 2.65.

The MASCAC Pitcher of the Week honor marks the eighth of Reichert’s career.

The BSU softball team is currently 17-14-1 on the season and 8-2 in the MASCAC. The Bears entertain Massachusetts Maritime Academy on Tuesday afternoon with game one of the conference doubleheader getting underway at three o'clock.
