Kelley Reichert Named MASCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second time this season, Bridgewater State University senior righthander Kelley Reichert has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Pitcher of the Week.

A native of Milford, Massachusetts, Reichert went 1-1 in two appearances in the circle for the Bears last week and posted a 0.00 earned run average with ten strikeouts without a walk in 12 innings of work.

Reichert tossed five scoreless innings to pick up the win in relief in the Bears’ 9-3 MASCAC win over Salem State University. The reigning MASCAC Pitcher of the Year scattered five hits, did not issue a walk and fanned four in the victory over the Vikings. Reichert also hurled seven impressive innings in relief in a 3-2 extra inning setback to WPI retiring the first 19 batters she faced before giving up a pair of unearned runs in the eighth inning. Reichert gave up just two hits did not issue a walk and struck out six Engineers.

In 18 appearances in the circle this season including eight starts, Reichert is 8-4 with six complete games to go along with 65 strikeouts and a 2.86 ERA over 80 2/3 innings of work. She currently ranks second in the MASCAC in wins, appearances and innings pitched. She is also third in the conference in strikeouts, fifth in ERA and tied for fifth in complete games.

In 73 career appearances (50 starts) for the Bears, Reichert is 33-23 with 37 complete games, six shutouts and one save. She has also fanned 240 batters over 372 1/3 innings and has a career ERA of 2.76.

The MASCAC Pitcher of the Week honor marks the seventh of Reichert’s career.

The BSU softball team is currently 14-13-1 on the season and tied for first place in the MASCAC standings with a 5-1 conference mark. The Bears travel to Westfield State University on Patriots Day Monday for a noontime MASCAC doubleheader with the Owls.
