Ruprecht Headlines Bears’ Six All-MASCAC Softball Selections

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University graduate centerfielder Alexandra Ruprecht (Kingston, Mass.) was selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Player of the Year to highlight the Bears' six representatives on the 2022 All-MASCAC Softball Team.

Joining Ruprecht on the All-MASCAC First Team are senior pitcher Kelley Reichert (Milford, Mass.) and junior designated player Madison Dana (Lynn, Mass.).

Graduate catcher Madison Synan (Quincy, Mass.), senior right fielder Emma Healy (Plymouth, Mass.) and senior shortstop Megan Sharon (East Longmeadow, Mass.) garnered second team honors to round out the Bears' six All-MASCAC selections.

Ruprecht is making her fourth straight appearance on the All-MASCAC Team as she garnered first team honors in 2021 and second team status in both 2018 and 2019. Reichert was named as a first team selection in 2019 and 2020, while Dana, Synan, Healy and Sharon are all making their second consecutive appearance on the All-MASCAC Team.

Ruprecht started all 40 games in centerfield this season and batted.402 (43-107) with four home runs, nine doubles, one triple, 21 walks, six stolen bases, 31 runs scored and 32 RBI. She also posted a .496 on base percentage and .617 slugging percentage as well as a .961 fielding percentage to go along with seven outfield assists.

Ruprecht is currently tied for the MASCAC lead in both walks and sacrifice flies (3) and ranks second in slugging percentage as well as third in on base percentage, sacrifice bunts (6) and extra base hits (14). She is also fourth among the conference leaders in home runs, fifth in batting average, total bases (66) and runs batted in, sixth in runs scored, eighth in doubles and ninth in hits.

In 157 games over five seasons with the Bears, Ruprecht is a career .347 (162-467) hitter with 13 home runs, 32 doubles, two triples, 14 stolen bases, 98 runs scored and 113 RBI. She also has 38 walks, nine sacrifice flies and 16 sacrifice bunts to her credit as well as a .396 on base percentage and a .507 slugging percentage.

Ruprecht earned MASCAC Player of the Week honors on March 21st and again on March 28th.

In 28 appearances (13 starts) in the circle this season, Reichert posted a record of 15-5 with 11 complete games and two shutouts. She fanned 106 batters in 134 1/3 innings of work and registered a 2.40 earned run average.

Reichert currently leads the MASCAC in wins and ranks second in appearances, strikeouts and ERA. She is also third among the conference leaders in innings pitched, fifth in complete games and eighth in games started.

In 83 games (55 starts) over four seasons with the Bears, Reichert went 40-24 in the circle with 42 complete games, seven shutouts and one save. She also struck out 281 batters over 426 innings and recorded a career ERA of 2.63.

Reichert earned MASCAC Pitcher of the Week honors three times this season (3/14, 4/18, 4/25) and was also named MASCAC Player of the Week on March 7th.

Dana appeared in 31 games this season including 15 at DP, eight as a catcher and 13 as a pinch hitter. She batted .348 (24-69) with a home run, five doubles and 16 RBI to go along with a .382 on base percentage and a .464 slugging percentage.

Dana is currently tied for seventh in the MASCAC in sacrifice flies (2).

In 33 games this season, Synan batted .264 (23-87) with seven doubles, six walks, one stolen base, seven runs scored and ten RBI. She also sported a .973 fielding percentage and cut down 11 runners attempting to steal.

Synan currently leads the MASCAC in runners caught stealing, and is seventh among the MASCAC leaders in sacrifice flies as well as eighth in sacrifice bunts

In 88 games over four seasons with the Bears, Synan has posted a career batting average of .292 (71-243) with five home runs, 15 doubles, 21 walks, 35 runs scored and 43 RBI. She also has a career .418 slugging percentage and a .354 on base percentage.

Healy appeared in 34 games this season and batted .358 (38-106) with a home run, three doubles, three triples, five stolen bases, 22 runs scored and 15 RBI to go along with a .472 slugging percentage. She also notched a .952 fielding percentage and recorded four outfield assists.

Healy is currently tied for the MASCAC lead in triples and ranks tenth in batting average.

In 106 games over four seasons with the Bears, Healy produced a career .324 batting average (96-296) with a home run, 19 doubles, three triples, 17 stolen bases, 63 runs scored and 49 RBI. She also recorded 21 walks and eight sacrifice bunts as well as a career .364 on base percentage and .419 slugging percentage.

Sharon started 36 games at shortstop and batted .366 (45-123) with seven doubles, three triples, nine stolen bases, 27 runs scored and 23 RBI. She also posted a .472 slugging percentage.

Sharon is tied for the MASCAC lead in triples and ranks fourth in hits as well as fifth in at bats and seventh in batting average. She is also ninth among the conference leaders in runs batted in, stolen bases and total bases (58), and tenth in runs scored.

In 113 games over four seasons with the Bears, Sharon batted .349 (133-381) with two home runs, 24 doubles, seven triples, 24 walks, 28 stolen bases, 86 runs scored and 72 RBI. She also posted a career .385 on base percentage and a .465 slugging percentage. 

The BSU softball team wrapped up the 2022 season with an overall record of 23-16-1. The Bears went 12-2 in MASCAC play to capture the program's 27th conference regular season title. 

Notes: Ruprecht is the eighth different softball Bear to earn MASCAC Player of the Year accolades and first since Brianna Strecker in 2013. Ruprecht joins Strecker, Jennifer Shaw (2012), Katie Tauber (2006), Amanda Sanson (2000, 2002), Angela Vecchione (1999, 2001), Jen Goodwin (1996) and Tammy Silveira (1993) as the Bears' Player of the Year honorees.
