Amelia Blake Named MASCAC Softball Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University freshman second baseman and designated player Amelia Blake has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Rookie of the Week.

A native of Raynham, Massachusetts, Blake batted .667 (6-9) with three doubles, a stolen base, three runs and two RBI in three games for the Bears last week. She also posted an impressive 1.000 slugging percentage.

Blake went 4-for-6 with three doubles, a stolen base and a run scored in a key conference sweep of Worcester State as the Bears captured the MASCAC regular season title and the top seed in this week's conference tournament. She was also 2-for-3 at the plate with two runs and two RBI in a 10-1 MASCAC victory over Mass. Maritime. 

In 27 games this season, Blake is batting .368 (25-68) with five doubles, a triple, four walks, 11 runs scored and 13 RBI to go along with a .403 on base percentage and a .471 slugging percentage. She currently ranks tenth in the MASCAC in batting average.

The BSU softball team wrapped up regular season play with an overall record of 21-14-1 including a 12-2 mark in the MASCAC standings. The Bears captured their 26th conference regular season title and will host the MASCAC Tournament on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
