Lighten, McDonough, Adigwe Compete at NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior Matthew Lighten (Dalton, Mass.), junior Alison McDonough (Halifax, Mass.) and freshman Chigozie Adigwe (Lowell, Mass.) competed on Friday at the 2022 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships held at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

McDonough finished 20th in the preliminaries of the women's 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.30 seconds.

Chigozie finished 15th in the preliminaries of the men's 60-meter hurdles with a time of the 8.36 seconds.

Lighten finished 15th in the preliminaries of the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.16 seconds.

All three were competing for the first time at an NCAA Track & Field Championship meet. Lighten qualified for the 2020 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships in the 200, but the meet was cancelled due to the pandemic.

Lighten recorded his 2022 indoor qualifying mark of 22.05 seconds in the 200 last weekend at the Tufts Final Qualifying Meet, while McDonough produced her qualifying time of 8.87 seconds also last weekend at the Tufts Final Qualifying Meet. Adigwe posted his qualifying time of 8.23 seconds at the Division III New England Championships on February 25th at Middlebury College.
