Stalters Garners All-America Honors at NCAA Track & Field Championships

GENEVA, Ohio – Bridgewater State University junior Corey Stalters earned All-America honors on Thursday afternoon at the 2022 NCAA Division III Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championships held at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

Making his first NCAA Championships appearance, Stalters placed fifth in the javelin with a toss of 212 feet (64.62m) on his third throw of the day. The top eight place winners in each NCAA individual event garner All-America status.

Marcus Weaver of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire captured the national title in the javelin with a mark of 219 feet, nine inches (67.00m), while Will Lawrence (216'7"/66.03m) of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, Greg Poloso (216'3"/65.93m) of Rowan University and Brett Hague (213'5"/65.06m) of Saine John's University rounded out the top four throwers.

On Wednesday, Stalters was selected as the USTFCCCA Division III East Region Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year. He was the only student-athlete from the East Region competing in the javelin at the national championship meet.

Senior Matthew Lighten (Dalton, Mass.) placed 20th in the preliminaries of the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.67 seconds. Lighten, who is making his debut at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, will compete in the preliminaries of the 100-meter hurdles on Friday afternoon at 3:45.
