Stalters, DeAndrade Lead Men’s Outdoor Track & Field at DIII New Englands

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Junior Corey Stalters (Norton, Mass.)and senior Jacob DeAndrade (Taunton, Mass.) each won New England titles to lead the Bridgewater State University men' track & field team at the Division III New England Championships hosted by Williams College.

Stalters captured top honors in the javelin with a distance of 203 feet, six inches (62.03m).

DeAndrade won the meet title in the 100-meter dash with a finals time of 10.78 seconds. He also placed third and earned All-New England honors in the 200-meter dash with a career-best outdoor time of 21.99 seconds.

Freshman Gavin Weldon (Taunton, Mass.) also garnered All-New England accolades in the 200 with a fifth-place time of 22.09 seconds.

Graduate student Trevor Wysong (Taunton, Mass.) placed third and earned All-New England status in the 5,000-meter run with a career best time of 14:37.21. Gregg Cornell set the Bridgewater State school record in the 5,000 with a time of 14:37 back in 1987.

Junior Dimetri Morris (North Andover, Mass.) and freshman Chigozie Adigwe (Lowell, Mass.) rounded out the Bears' All-New England performers as the duo placed sixth and seventh, respectively, in the 110-meter hurdles. Morris recorded a finals time of 15.11 seconds, while Adigwe checked in at 15.31 seconds.

Bridgewater State finished ninth in the team standings with 41 points. MIT won the New England title with 132.5 points, while Tufts University (76 pts.) and Springfield College (70.5 pts.) finished second and third, respectively.

Qualifying members of the BSU men's outdoor track & field team will compete next weekend at the NEICAAA Championships hosted by Bryant University.
