Men's Track & Field Competes at Bruce Lehane Scarlet & White Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University men's indoor track & field team competed at the Bruce Lehane Scarlet & White Invitational hosted by Boston University Saturday.

Senior Matthew Lighten (Dalton, Mass.) placed sixth in the 60-meter dash with a finals time of 7.02 seconds. Lighten also finished 15th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.84 seconds. Lighten currently ranks 19th in all of Division III in the 200.

Graduate student Trevor Wysong (Taunton, Mass.) placed fifth and broke the school record in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 14:50.18. Wysong's time eclipses the previous record of 14:54.12 set in 2012 by Stephen Wahome. Wysong currently ranks 31st in all of Division III in the 5,000.

In the triple Jump, sophomore Damani Domerson (Brookline, Mass.) finished tenth with a leap of 38 feet, seven inches (11.76m).

Junior Exondus Barnes (East Providence, Ri.) leaped six feet, 3.25 inches (1.91m) in the high jump to finish ninth in the event at the meet, while sophomore Thomas Barinelli (Tewksbury, Mass.) finished 14th with a mark of six feet, 1.25 inches (1.86m).

Barinelli also finished fifth in the long jump with a distance of 21 feet, 7.5 inches (6.59m), while Domerson took eighth in the event with a mark of 21 feet (6.40m). Junior Corey Stalters (Norton, Mass.) took 15th place in the long jump with a leap of 20 feet, 5.25 inches (6.23m).

Next weekend, the Bears will compete at the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Championships hosted by Wheaton College.
