Haynes Leads Men's Track & Field at NEICAAA Championships

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Freshman Lamont Haynes (Boston, Mass.) advanced to the finals of the 400-meter dash to lead the Bridgewater State University men's track & field team during day one of the 2017 New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Williams College on Friday.

Haynes placed second in the preliminaries of the 400 with a school-record time of 48.32 seconds. He eclipsed his own BSU outdoor mark of 48.73 seconds set earlier this season at the MASCAC Championships.

The top eight performers in preliminary events advance to Saturday's finals.

Freshman Trevor Wysong (Taunton, Mass.) placed 12th in the 10,000-meter run with a season-best time of 32:24.81, while junior Michael Kotleski (Great Barrington, Mass.) finished 18th in the 400-meter hurdles (55.46).

Sophomore Brandon Houle (Cumberland, R.I.) checked in at 22nd in the javelin with a toss of 170 feet, three inches (51.89m).

The NEICAAA Championship meet will conclude on Saturday.
