Men's Track Places 7th at Wheaton Invitational

NORTON, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State College men's indoor track and field team placed seventh at the Wheaton College Invitational on Saturday.

Sophomore Bill Taft (Hanson, MA), freshmen Stephen Wahome (Lowell, MA) and Matt Perreault (Lunenburg, MA), and sophomore Mike Sukeforth (Middleboro, MA) set the BSC school mark in the distance medley relay with a time of 11:06.16 as they placed fifth in the event.

Wahome also tied for eighth place out of 41 runners in the one-mile run with a time of 4:31.82, while Sukeforth placed ninth out of 43 competitors in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:00.58.  Perreault also finished tenth in the 400-meter dash (:52.96).

Freshman Felix Mensah (Lowell, MA) grabbed fourth place in both the 55-meter dash and 200-meter dash.  Mensah recorded times of 6.66 seconds in the 55 and 23.44 seconds in the 200.

Freshman Mohammed Malik (West Bridgewater, MA) finished sixth in the triple jump (39'11.9") and seventh in the long jump (19'3.1"), while senior Nick Ferrara (Swansea, MA) posted a height of 5'10" in the high jump to grab sixth place in the event.

The Bears will compete in the Terrier Invitational hosted by Boston University on Saturday morning.  The meet will get underway at 9:00 AM.
