Four Bears Named to LEC Spring All-Academic Team

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Four Bridgewater State University men's tennis student-athletes have been named to the Spring 2022 Little East Conference (LEC) All-Academic Team as announced by LEC Assistant Commissioner, Darryl Konicki.

To be named to the LEC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must be at least in sophomore standing in the classroom, have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the previous semester, and have been at their current institution for at least one full academic year.

The four student-athletes from the BSU men's tennis team who achieved the honor are seniors Darius Denoes (Ithaca, N.Y.), Colin Lamusta (Lynnfield, Mass.) and Kendan Zeigler (Hadley, N.Y.) as well as sophomore Dan Salzberg (Uxbridge, Mass.).

A physics major, Desnoes wrapped up his undergraduate career with a 3.65 cumulative grade point average, while Lamusta is majoring in political science and theatre arts and checks in with a 3.74 GPA. Ziegler is an aviation science major with a 3.55 GPA. Salzberg has a 3.35 GPA and is majoring in general management. Desnoes, Lamusta and Ziegler graduated this past weekend as the BSU graduation ceremonies were held at Gillette Stadium.

The Little East Conference began honoring an all-academic team during the 2007-08 academic year. While the majority of Bridgewater State varsity squads are members of the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC), five BSU teams call the Little East home. Field hockey and women's tennis compete in the Little East in the fall, and men's tennis in the spring. The men's and women's swimming and diving teams join the Little East in the fall of 2021.
