Men's Swimming & Diving in First Place After Day Two of Little East Championships

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University men's swimming & diving team is in first place after day two of the three-day Little East Conference (LEC) Men's Swimming & Diving Championships held at the Boston Sports Institute in Wellesley.

The Bears currently have 640 points at the championship meet as they hold a slight edge over second-place Keene State College (612 pts.).

The BSU foursome of sophomores Brennan Gravanda (Wilbraham, Mass.) and Cooper Castellone (South Windsor, Conn.), junior Chris Anastasiades (Wakefield, Mass.) and senior Joshua Hernandez (Cranston, R.I.) captured the Little East title in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:38.24.

Hernandez picked up his second Little East individual title of the three-day meet as he placed first in the 50 butterfly with a career-best time of 23.77 seconds, while Anastasiades also earned the LEC crown in the 100 breaststroke with a career-best time of 59.91 seconds.

Sophomore Joseph Pervier (Baldwinville, Mass.) earned his second conference title of the championship meet as he was the first to touch the wall in the 100 backstroke with a career-best time of 55.33 seconds.

The three-day championship meet wraps up on Monday with events getting underway at 10:00 AM.
