Men’s Swimming & Diving Sweeps Tri-Meet

WILLIMANTIC, Conn. – The Bridgewater State University men's swimming & diving team swept a tri-meet hosted by Little East Conference foe Eastern Connecticut State University on Saturday afternoon at the ECSU Sports Center.

The Bears (4-4) edged the host Warriors, 137-122, and posted a 209-25 victory over Gordon College.

Bridgewater recorded first place finishes in six events on the afternoon including both relays.

Junior Chris Anastasiades (Wakefield, Mass.) captured top honors in the 50 breaststroke (27.72), 100 freestyle (48.50) and 200 individual medley (2:02.60). He also swam a leg on the Bears' winning 200 medley relay squad along with sophomores Brennan Gravanda (Wilbraham, Mass.) and Joseph Pervier (Baldwinville, Mass.), and senior Joshua Hernandez (Cranston, R.I.). The foursome posted a time of 1:43.51.

Anastasiades' times in the 100 freestyle and 200 IM both marked career bests.

Sophomore Cooper Castellone (South Windsor, Conn.) placed first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:04.91.

The Bears' quartet of Pervier, Hernandez, freshman Thomas Roch (Chelmsford, Mass.) and senior Kyle Chaney (Torrance, Calif.) capped off the meet with a victory in the 200 freestyle relay (1:35.85).

Bridgewater State will host the BSU Fast Chance Meet on Wednesday evening at six o'clock.
