Bridgewater State Hosts Ninth Annual Michael Arsenault Memorial Relays

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University swimming and diving teams hosted the Ninth Annual Michael Arsenault Memorial Relays on Saturday afternoon at the Mary Jo Moriarty Pool in Bridgewater.

In the season opening meet, Bridgewater State placed first on both the men's and women's sides.

The relay meet was created in 2012 to honor the BSU swimming and diving program's only All-America Swimmer, Michael Arsenault. Michael, who passed away in March of 2008 at the age of 52, earned NCAA Division III All-America honors in the 50 freestyle in 1976.

The Bears won a combined 19 relay events on the afternoon.

The women captured the 400 medley, 300 freestyle crescendo, 200 freestyle, 200 medley, 300 backstroke crescendo, 300 breaststroke crescendo and the 400 freestyle.

On the men's side, the Bears captured the 400 medley, 300 freestyle crescendo, 200 freestyle, 200 medley, 300 butterfly crescendo, 100 freestlyle, 300 backstroke crescendo, 300 breaststroke crescendo, 100 pants/shirts, and the 400 freestyle.

The Bears also grabbed top honors in the mixed 100 freestyle/one-meter diving and the mixed 100 freestyle/three-meter diving

Seniors Makayla Paquin (North Easton, Mass.) and Danielle Vissering (North Andover, Mass.) paced the Bears' women's squad with three relay wins apiece.

Graduate student Alexa Wilson (Centerville, Mass.); seniors Ripley Devers (North Attleboro, Mass.), Jordyn Maxim (Lakeville, Mass.) and Gabriella Rivera (Hanover, Mass.); juniors Hannah Geoffrion (Barnstable, Mass.), Alex Molinari (Chelmsford, Mass.) and Angelina Vuong (Rockland, Mass.); sophomores Renee Goodale (Vineyard Haven, Mass.) and Olivia Ranck (Wilbraham, Mass.); and freshmen Olivia Pelletier (East Kingston, N.H.) were each part of two winning relays on the women's side. 

Senior Kyle Chaney (Torrance, Cali.) and juniors Elijah Mathisen (Paso Robles, Cali.) and Chris Anastasiades (Wakefield, Mass.) were each part of three winning relays for the BSU men's squad. Sophomores Cooper Castellone (South Windsor, Conn.) and Joseph Pervier (Baldwinville, Mass.) also competed on three winning relays as did freshmen Jacob Rice (Longmeadow, Mass.) and Thomas Roch (Chelmsford, Mass.).

Senior Antonio Gonzalez (Cranston, R.I.); juniors Luc Durand (Marblehead, Mass.), Emerson Kerns (Norwood, Mass.) and Ben Wilkinson (Reading, England); sophomore Brennan Gravanda (Wilbraham, Mass.); and freshmen Owen Lasbury-Casey (Mansfield, Mass.), Chase Simao (Stonington, Conn.), Cameron Srebnick (Chelmsford, Mass.) and Cameron Stringfellow (Wrentham, Mass.) each took home two wins in the relays.

The Bears are back in the pool on Saturday, October 30th when they entertain Clark University.
