Five Bears Named to All-MASCAC Men's Soccer Team

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Five Bridgewater State University student-athletes have been voted to the 2021 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Soccer All-Conference Team by the league's eight head coaches.

Graduate midfielder Kevin Roberts (Medway, Mass.) and senior defender Liam Lenihan (Rockland, Mass.) were selected to the All-MASCAC First Team, while junior forward Robson Montrond (Brockton, Mass.), freshman midfielder Carsten Boloz (Southborough, Mass.) and freshman defender Justin Silva (North Attleboro, Mass.) each garnered All-MASCAC Second Team honors.

Roberts is making his second appearance on the All-MASCAC Team as he earned second team accolades in 2018.

Roberts notched two goals, including one game-winner, and dished out five assists for nine points in 17 games this season. He tied for fourth in the MASCAC in assists. Roberts wrapped up his career at Bridgewater State with 16 goals (five game-winners) and 15 assists for 47 points over 73 games.

Lenihan and Silva anchored the Bears' defensive backfield in 2021. The Bears posted a team goals against average of 1.86 and recorded four shutouts as the squad ranked third in the MASCAC in each category. Lenihan started all 18 games and Silva made 17 starts as they each recorded one assist on the season.

Montrond potted a team-leading nine goals in 17 games this season and added one assist for 19 points. Two of his nine markers were game-winners. Montrond finished second in the MASCAC in goals and tied for second in both scoring and game-winning goals.

Boloz started 17 games during his rookie campaign and tallied two goals (one game-winner) and four assists for eight points. He tied for seventh among the conference leaders in assists.

The BSU men's soccer team wrapped up the 2021 campaign with an overall record of 8-10. Seeded third in the MASCAC Tournament with a 5-2 conference mark, the Bears posted a 6-0 shutout victory over #6 Worcester State University in the quarterfinal round, before dropping a 2-1 double overtime decision to #2 Framingham State University in the semifinals.
