BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University freshman forward Ethan Lafontant has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men’s Soccer Co-Rookie of the Week.

Lafontant shares this week’s honor along with Massachusetts Maritime Academy sophomore Ty Chaffa.

A native of Chelmsford, Massachusetts, Lafontant potted what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 71st minute in the Bears’ 2-1 MASCAC win on the road over MCLA last week.

In 15 games with the Bears this season, Lafontant has scored four goals as he ranks third on the team in that category. Lafontant is also tied for seventh among the MASCAC goal scoring leaders.

The BSU men’s soccer team wrapped up regular season competition with an overall record of 7-9 including a 5-2 mark in conference play. The Bears are seeded third in this week’s MASCAC Tournament and will host a first round game against #6 Worcester State University on Tuesday afternoon at 3:30.
