Keyth Key Named MASCAC Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second time this season, Bridgewater State University sophomore forward Keyth Key has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week.

A native of Springfield, Massachusetts, Key averaged 14.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 2.5 steals and two blocked shots in two games for the Bears last week while shooting 50% (12-24) from the floor.

Key notched 17 points, five rebounds (two offensive), one assist and career highs of five steals and three blocks in a 66-62 MASCAC win over Framingham State University. He also tallied 12 points, eight rebounds (two offensive), two assists and a block in a 95-73 conference setback to Salem State University.

In 11 games this season, Key is averaging 11.1 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.1 steals while shooting 42.7% (47-110) from the floor and 30.3% (10-33) from three-point range. He currently ranks eighth in the MASCAC in blocked shots (0.6 bpg).

The BSU men’s basketball team is presently 3-10 on the season and 1-1 in conference play. The Bears are off until, Wednesday, January 19th when they travel to Westfield State University for a 7:30 MASCAC game with the Owls.
