Keyth Key Named MASCAC Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University sophomore forward Keyth Key has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week.

A native of Springfield, Massachusetts, Key averaged 18 points, seven rebounds and 1.5 steals while shooting 57.1% (12-21) from the floor, 62.5% (5-8) from three-point range and 77.8% (7-9) at the free throw line in two games for the Bears last week.

Key scored a career-high 24 points and added seven rebounds and three steals in a 76-71 win on the road over Wheaton College. He also notched 12 points, seven rebounds, an assist and blocked shot in an 82-69 setback to Emerson College. 

In seven games this season, Key is averaging 10.3 points and 5.6 rebounds while shooting 40.6% (26-64) from the floor, 37.5% (6-16) from three-point range and 66.7% (14-21) at the free throw line. He currently ranks ninth in the MASCAC in free throw shooting.

The BSU men’s basketball team is presently 1-8 on the season. The Bears travel to Dean College on Tuesday night to take on the Bulldogs at seven.
