Emily Ronan Named Little East Field Hockey Goalkeeper & Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University freshman Emily Ronan has been selected as the Little East Conference (LEC) Field Hockey Goalkeeper and Rookie of the Week.

Ronan made 17 saves and posted a 0.98 goals against average as well as an .895 save percentage in two games for the Bears last week. The North Billerica, Massachusetts native turned aside seven shots in a 2-1 Little East win over Plymouth State University, and made ten saves in a 1-0 overtime setback to conference foe UMass Dartmouth.

In 15 games between the pipes this season, Ronan has backstopped the Bears to five wins and a pair of shutouts. She has also recorded 124 saves and produced a .747 save percentage to go along with a 2.79 goals against average in over 900 minutes of work (904:21).

Ronan ranks second in the Little East in saves and is third in minutes played. She is also tied for third among the conference goaltending leaders in games played, tied for fourth in shutouts and is seventh overall in save percentage.

The BSU field hockey team is currently 5-10 on the season and 3-7 in the Little East standings with two conference games remaining on the schedule. The Bears host Worcester State University on Tuesday night at seven and then wrap up regular season play on Friday afternoon (4:00 PM) at Castleton University.
