Sheehan, Turner Named NFHCA Scholars of Distinction

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior defender Olivia Sheehan and junior forward Bailey Turner have each been named 2021 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III Scholars of Distinction.

Sheehan and Turner are among over 500 Division III student-athletes from across the country to earn the honor, including 31 from the Little East Conference.

The NFHCA Division III Scholars of Distinction program recognizes student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.9 or higher through the first semester of the 2021-2022 academic year.

A native of Hanson, Massachusetts, Sheehan is an elementary education major with an outstanding 3.91 grade point average. Turner, who hails from Dedham, Massachusetts, is currently sporting an impressive 3.97 GPA as she is also majoring in elementary education as well as psychology.

Earlier this month, Sheehan and Turner were among 12 Bears named to the NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad.
