Thomas Fay Named MASCAC Football Special Teams Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – For the second straight week, Bridgewater State University senior kicker and punter Thomas Fay has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Football Special Teams Player of the Week.

Fay, who hails from Raynham, Massachusetts, converted all seven of his extra point attempts and added a 49-yard punt (his only punt of the day) in the Bears’ 49-13 MASCAC win on the road over Worcester State.

Through six games this season, Fay is a perfect 18-for-18 in point after tries and is averaging 39.2 yards on 22 punts with four inside the 20 and a long of 61. He is currently tied for the MASCAC lead in PAT percentage (100%), ranks second in punting average and is third in the conference in made extra points. Fay’s 61-yard punt on October 2nd against Fitchburg State University marks the longest punt in the MASCAC this season.

In 16 games over two seasons with the Bears, Fay has converted 50 of 58 (86%) extra point attempts and has punted 27 times for 1,017 yards (37.6 avg.).

The BSU football team is currently 4-2 on the season and a perfect 4-0 in the MASCAC. Following a bye week, Bridgewater State will welcome conference foe Westfield State University to Swenson Field for the Bears' Homecoming Game on Saturday, October 23rd at four o'clock.
