Adam Couch Named MASCAC Football Offensive Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior running back Adam Couch has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Football Offensive Player of the Week.

Couch rushed for a season-high 165 yards and two touchdowns on 30 carries in the Bears’ dramatic 21-17 come-from-behind win over Western Connecticut State University. The Winchendon, Massachusetts product scored on TD runs of one and three yards, and also rushed for 43 yards on the game-winning drive late in the fourth quarter.

Through four games this season, Couch has carried the ball 90 times for 484 yards and five touchdowns as he is averaging 5.4 yards per carry and 121.0 yards per game. He currently leads the MASCAC in rushing attempts, rushing yards (total and per game) and rushing touchdowns, and is tied for the conference lead in scoring (30 pts.).

Couch presently ranks among the top 20 Division III running backs in rushing yards, rushing yards per game and rushing touchdowns.

The BSU football team is currently 2-2 on the season and 2-0 in the MASCAC. The Bears will travel to Fitchburg State University on Saturday for a three o'clock conference game with the Falcons.
