MASCAC Fall Sportsmanship Teams Announced

WESTFIELD, Mass. -- Fifty-five Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) student-athletes have been recognized for their outstanding sportsmanship as members of the 2021 Fall Sportsmanship Team.

The MASCAC Sportsmanship Team is intended to recognize one student-athlete from each team, in every sport that best demonstrates the values of the MASCAC and its Sportsmanship Statement, regardless of their overall performance or statistics for the season.

“I want to congratulate all of the student-athletes who are named to the 2021 Fall MASCAC Sportsman-ship Team”, Commissioner Angela Baumann said. “These student-athletes were selected by their coach for their outstanding sportsmanship during their season and we applaud them for it.”

The sports that are represented on the fall team are men’s and women’s cross country, football, men’s golf, men’s and women’s soccer and volleyball. A student-athlete from each institution is selected by their coach to be placed on the Sportsmanship Team.

Sam Steere of Bridgewater State, Samuel Flint of Fitchburg State, Manny Miranda of Framingham State, Mike Bankowski of MCLA, Ben Tuttle of Massachusetts Maritime, Enrique Delgado of Westfield State and Daniel Clark of Worcester State were named to the Sportsmanship Team from men’s cross country. 

On this year’s Women’s Cross Country Sportsmanship Team are Julie Glavin of Bridgewater State, Meryem Majaoudou of Fitchburg State, Amanda Bedard of Framingham State, Domenica Gomez of MCLA, Sarah Smialek of Massachusetts Maritime, Mia McDonald of Westfield State and Erica Hanlon of Worcester State.

Kicking off the Football Sportsmanship Team are Thomas Duell of Bridgewater State, Rodny Bonhomme of Fitchburg State, Isaiah Hanks of Framingham State, Connor Reynolds of Massachusetts Maritime, Kayden Baillargeon of Plymouth State, Andrew Paulus of UMass Dartmouth, Brian Tucker of WestConn, Noah Juaire of Westfield State and Nick Kopacz of Worcester State.

Men’s golf is next on the sportsmanship team list. Jimmy Keuther of Eastern Nazarene College, Nick Knisel of Mitchell College, Paul Roeder of MCLA, Zane Angelopoulos of New England, Matt Martin of Salem State, Jack Shane of Springfield College, Michael Waldman of Westfield State and Jake Poitras of Worcester State are this year’s honorees.

Hannah Johnson of Bridgewater State, Allison Gough of Fitchburg State, Jasmine Lees of Framingham State, Jess Halverson  of MCLA, Julia Podchaiski of Massachusetts Maritime, Jill Tramandozzi of Salem State, Madi Dufries of Westfield State and Fiona Weir of Worcester State are the Women’s Soccer Sportsmanship Team honorees.

In men’s soccer, Dan Rickson of Bridgewater State, Sean Nugent of Fitchburg State, Bradley Dustin of Framingham State, Tyler Cotting of MCLA, John Murphy of Massachusetts Maritime, Orlando Rodrigues of Salem State, Joseph Evborokhai of Westfield State and Fidel Castro of Worcester State land on the Sportsmanship Team.

Closing out the 2021 Fall Sportsmanship squads is volleyball where Becca Whalen of Bridgewater State, Perry Joubert of Fitchburg State, Anna Szymanski of Framingham State, Ellie Walter-Goodspeed of MCLA, Tegan Murray of Massachusetts Maritime, Danielle Sheehan of Salem State, Michaela O’Connor of Westfield State and Brooke Lamothe of Worcester State are this year’s honorees.
