BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Sixteen Bridgewater State University student-athletes have been named to the 2021-2022 Little East Conference (LEC) Winter All-Academic Team which was announced today.
The 16 BSU student-athletes include nine members of the women's swimming & diving team and seven representatives from the men's swimming & diving squad.
To be named to the LEC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must be at least in sophomore standing in the classroom, have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the previous semester, and have been at their current institution for at least one full academic year.
Receiving the honor as members of the women's swimming & diving team are graduate students Katie Werra (East Taunton, Mass.) and Alexa Wilson (Centerville, Mass.); seniors Ripley Devers (North Attleboro, Mass.), Jordyn Maxim (Lakeville, Mass.) and Danielle Vissering (North Andover, Mass.); juniors Kelly Burns (Natick, Mass.) and Angelina Vuong (Rockland, Mass.); and sophomores Alex Molinari (Chelmsford, Mass.) and Lily Morrison (Marshfield, Mass.).
Representing the men’s swimming & diving team are senior Bryan Abbott (Taunton, Mass.); juniors Chris Anastasiades (Wakefield, Mass.), Luc Durand (Marblehead, Mass.) and Thomas Scalese (Chelmsford, Mass.); and sophomores Cooper Castellone (South Windsor, Conn.), Brennan Gravanda (Wilbraham, Mass.) and Connor Young (Chelmsford, Mass.).
The Little East Conference began honoring an all-academic team during the 2007-08 academic year. While the majority of Bridgewater State varsity squads are members of the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC), five BSU teams call the Little East home. Field hockey and women’s tennis compete in the Little East in the fall, men's and women's swimming & diving in the winter, and men’s tennis in the spring.
