BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Fifteen Bridgewater State University student-athletes have been named to the 2021 Little East Conference (LEC) Fall All-Academic Team which was announced today.
The 15 BSU student-athletes include eight field hockey players and seven representatives from the women's tennis team.
To earn a spot on the LEC Fall All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must be at least in sophomore standing in the classroom, have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the previous semester, and have been at their current institution for at least one full academic year.
Receiving the honor as members of the field hockey team are seniors Victoria Camara (Westport, Mass.), Aidan Ryan (Uxbridge, Mass.), Olivia Sheehan (Hanson, Mass.) and Katie Swart (Bridgewater, Mass.); juniors Jordyn Perry (Nantucket, Mass.) and Emma Schoonover (Somerset, Mass.); and sophomores Carolyn Greendale (Natick, Mass.) and Charlotte McElroy (Carver, Mass.). Representing the women’s tennis team are graduate student Olivia Sweeney (Taunton, Mass.); senior Vanessa Rosa (Taunton, Mass.); juniors Catie Ledwidge (Somerset, Mass.), Mackenzie Silveira (Middletown, R.I.) and Brianna Venditti (North Smithfield, R.I.); and sophomores Allison Carter (Raynham, Mass.) and Erin Lally (Danvers, Mass.).
The Little East Conference began honoring an all-academic team during the 2007-08 academic year. While the majority of Bridgewater State varsity squads are members of the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC), five BSU teams call the Little East home. Field hockey and women’s tennis compete in the Little East in the fall, men's and women's swimming & diving in the winter, and men’s tennis in the spring.
