Mike was the first Bridgewater State College swimmer to earn NCAA Division III All-American honors in the freestyle in 1976. A four-year letter winner in swimming, Mike served as the Bears' captain his junior and senior years. In competition at BSC, he set numerous school records in men's swimming. At the time of his induction, Mike held school records in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle events.

Mike was a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service in Fitchburg for 30 years where he resided along with his daughter, Taylor Rae Arsenault.

Mike passed away in March of 2008 at the age of 52.
