Dr. John Tobin

Dr. John Tobin was a four-sport athlete in baseball, basketball. soccer, and tennis from 1936-40. During his playing days he was also President of the Men's Athletic Association. During World War II, John was a commanding officer in the U.S. Navy. Upon his return, he began an outstanding teaching career as an educator and administrator at the elementary and high school level.

From 1946-64 he was active in the Marshfield school system as both a teacher and principal. After receiving his Doctorate in Education from Boston University in 1965, he became Assistant Superintendent of schools in Niles, Illinois from 1965-67. He soon returned to Massachusetts to become Superintendent of schools in Westwood, where he stayed until his retirement in 1984. Dr.Tobin and his family resided in Marston Mills, MA until his death in 1998.
