Madden Earns All-New England Honors at NCAA Regionals

BRUNSWICK, Maine – Senior Jenise Madden (Milford, Mass.) placed 34th out of a field of 380 runners to lead the Bridgewater State University women's cross country team and earn All-New England honors on Saturday at the 2019 NCAA Division III New England Regional Cross Country Championships held at Bowdoin College.

Madden covered the six-kilometer course in a time of 22:30.3.

Bridgewater State sophomore Kaylee Dunn (North Attleboro, Mass.) placed 99th with a time of 23:24.1, and fellow sophomore Katherine Vogel (Bronx, N.Y.) crossed the line in 23:57 to finish 133rd overall.

Sophomore Izzi Gengaro of MIT won the individual championship with a time of 21:19.1.

Williams College captured the team title while MIT, Tufts University, Bates College, Middlebury College, and Wesleyan rounded out the top six. Williams and MIT automatically qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships. The Bears finished 34th in the team standings.

Tufts, Bates, Middlebury and Wesleyan are among those that will be competing for at large bids to the NCAA Division III Championships. In total, 16 teams nationwide will qualify at the discretion of the USTFCCCA selection committee. Each region is limited to a maximum of six teams.
