Women's Cross Country Places 6th at James Earley Invitational

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Sophomore Kaylee Dunn (North Attleboro, Mass.) placed 13th out of the field of 223 runners at the James Earley Invitational hosted by Westfield State University on Saturday at Stanley Park.

Dunn covered the five-kilometer course in a season-best time of 19:03.56. Sophomore Amy O'Sullivan of Westfield State was the top collegiate finisher with a time of 18:01.97.

Sophomore Katherine Vogel (Pawling, NY) was next across the line for the Bears as she placed 28th overall with a time of 19:44.03. Vogel was followed by freshman Julie Glavin (Weymouth, Mass.) in 45th place (20:02.99). Finishing just behind Glavin, sophomore Megan Leary (North Attleboro, Mass.) was 46th with a time of 20:03.61.

The Bears finished sixth in the team standings. Trinity College captured the team title followed by Worcester State University in second place and Westfield State in third.

Also on Saturday, BSU senior Jenise Madden (Medford, Mass.) placed 71st out of a field of 154 runners at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championships held at Franklin Park in Dorchester.

Madden, the lone Bear at the meet, covered the five-kilometer course in a time of 19:25.1. Shannon Murdock of Division I University of New Hampshire won the women's race with a time of 17:36.7

Next weekend, the BSU cross country teams will compete at the Western New England Invitational in Springfield.
