Madden Leads BSU Women’s Cross Country at New England Regionals

BRUNSWICK, Maine – Junior Jenise Madden (Milford, Mass.) placed 42nd out of field of 407 runners to lead the Bridgewater State University women's cross country team at the 2018 NCAA Division III New England Regional Cross Country Championships held on Saturday at Bowdoin College.

Madden covered the six-kilometer course in a time of 22:59.64.

Bridgewater senior Emily Guyon (Hopedale, Mass.) placed 198th with a time of 25:08.74, while freshman Katherine Vogel (Bronx, N.Y.) crossed the line in 26:23.27 to finish 261st overall.

Sophomore Kaitlyn Mooney of Coast Guard won the individual championship with a time of 20:43.74.

MIT captured the team title while Middlebury College, Williams College, Brandeis University, Tufts University and Bates College rounded out the top six. M.I.T. and Middlebury College automatically qualified for the NCAA Division III National Championships. The Bears finished 34th in the team standings.

Williams College, Brandeis University, Tufts University and Bates College are among those that will be competing for at large bids to the NCAA Division III Championships. In total, 16 teams nationwide will qualify at the discretion of the USTFCCCA selection committee. Each region is limited to a maximum of six teams.
