BABSON PARK, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University volleyball team competed at a tri-match hosted by nationally ranked Babson College on Saturday afternoon.

The Bears dropped a 3-0 decision (25-12, 25-15, 25-22) to Wentworth and lost 3-0 (25-12, 26-24, 25-15) to the host Beavers. Babson (26-1) entetered the match ranked #17 in the most recent American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III Poll.

Freshman setter Savannah Quintal (Assonet, Mass.) notched 29 assists, two aces and 15 digs in the two matches as she was making her first career starts. Junior outside hitter Gabryella Serrano (Bridgewater, Mass.) checked in with nine kills, 15 digs and one assisted block, while classmate Abigail Gardner (Holden, Mass.) tallied six kills, 13 digs, one ace and one assisted block, and freshman libero Victoria Caiano (New Bedford, Mass.) contributed seven aces and 15 digs. Sophomore right side hitter Becca Whalen (Plymouth, Mass.) added six kills and an an assisted block.

The Bears (9-14) wrap up regular season play next Saturday when they host Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) foe MCLA at noon.
