Carlos Mangum joined the BSU track & field coaching staff prior the 2018-19 season and serves as an assistant throwing coach. Coach Mangum is a 2017 graduate of the University of Miami where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and Sports Administration with a minor in Art He was a two-year captain on the Hurricanes' track & field team where he received USTFCCCA Indoor All-American, Second Team honors in 2016 as he placed 14th in the weight throw at the NCAA Championships. Mangum currently holds the university record in the outdoor hammer throw and indoor weight throw.
Prior to coming to Bridgewater State, Carlos served as the head coach of the girls track and field team at Central Falls High School in Rhode Island. He coached two throwers that qualified for the state championship meet including one who placed second in the javelin and qualified for nationals during his time there.
Carlos presently resides in Providence, Rhode Island.
