Women's Track & Field Opens Indoor Season at Emmanuel Meet

ROXBURY, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University women's track & field team opened the 2019-2020 indoor season at the non-scoring Emmanuel College Indoor Opener on Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Center.

A pair of freshmen claimed top honors on the day. Abbi Peterson (Watertown, Mass.) won the high jump with a leap of five feet, three inches (1.60m), while Alison McDonough (Halifax, Mass.) placed first in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.40 seconds. Both Peterson and McDonough qualified for the Division III New England Championships in their respective events.. 

Senior Jenise Madden (Milford, Mass.) also qualified for DIII New Englands as she finished fourth in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:41.34. Sophomore Kaylee Dunn (North Attleboro, Mass.) finished a close fifth with a time of 18:41.48.

In the weight throw, juniors Juliana Martin (North Attleboro, Mass.) and Jemelah Foster (Fall River, Mass.) placed fourth and fifth, respectively. Martin threw 46 feet 4.75 inches (14.14m) and Foster was close behind with a heave of 46 feet 3.25 inches (14.07m). Both qualified for DIII New Englands as well.

Next Saturday, the BSU track & field teams will compete at the Joe Donahue Games hosted by Northeastern.
