BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – For the second straight week and sixth time this season, Bridgewater State University senior Kira Gilbreath has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) GEICO Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week. GEICO is a proud sponsor of the MASCAC weekly awards program.

Gilbreath garnered All-New England honors in the shot put at the Division III New England Championships hosted by Williams College this past weekend. The West Haven, Utah native recorded a mark of 41 feet, seven inches (12.67m) to place third in the event.

The MASCAC weekly accolade marks the 14th of Gilbreath’s career including seven outdoor distinctions.

Gilbreath, who competed at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships last spring, currently ranks 13th in all of Division III in the shot put. She captured the New England crown in the shot put at the 2018 Division III New England Outdoor Championships, and earned USTFCCCA All-New England honors in the event put for both the 2017-2018 indoor and outdoor seasons as well as the 2019 indoor campaign.

Qualifying members of the BSU women's outdoor track & field team will compete on Friday and Saturday at the NEICAAA Championships hosted by Southern Connecticut State University.
