Jayci Andrews Named MASCAC Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the third straight week and fourth time this season, Bridgewater State University senior Jayci Andrews has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) GEICO Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week. GEICO is the proud sponsor of the MASCAC weekly awards program.

The MASCAC Athlete of the Week honor marks the 31st of Andrews' career including 12 outdoor distinctions.

Andrews captured the MASCAC and New England Alliance titles in the 100-meter hurdles (15.56) and the 400-meter hurdles (1:04.64) at the MASCAC/New England Alliance Championships held this past weekend at Fitchburg State University. The Plymouth, Massachusetts native also placed sixth overall (third in the MASCAC) in both the 100-meter dash (13.24) and the 200-meter dash (27.19).

In four years at Bridgewater State, Andrews has won a total of 16 MASCAC titles in 13 different events.

Andrews currently ranks 13th in all of Division III in the 100-meter hurdles and 17th in the 400-meter hurdles.

Last month, Andrews became the second NCAA national champion in Bridgewater State history as she captured the national title in the 60-meter hurdles at the 2019 Division III Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships held at the Reggie Lewis Center. Andrews also garnered All-American accolades last spring with a second place finish in the 100-meter hurdles at the 2018 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Andrews presently holds nine individual school records at Bridgewater State (along with three relay marks). She is the Bears indoor record holder in the 55-meter hurdles (8.50), 60-meter hurdles (8.68), long jump (17'6.75"), 200-meter dash (26.37) and 400-meter dash (57.14), as well as the outdoor record holder in the 100-meter hurdles (14.14), 400-meter hurdles (1:01.37), 400-meter dash (55.76) and long jump (17'8.75").

The 2019 outdoor season continues for the BSU women's track & field team on Friday and Saturday as qualifying members will compete at the Division III New England Championships hosted by Williams College.
