Jayci Andrews Captures National Title in 60-Meter Hurdles

ROXBURY, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior Jayci Andrews (Plymouth, Mass.) captured the national title in the 60-meter hurdles (video) on Saturday afternoon at the 2019 NCAA Division III Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships held at the Reggie Lewis Center.

Andrews posted a winning and school record time of 8.68 seconds in the hurdles finals on Saturday as she edged junior Favor Ezewuzie of Wheaton College (Ill.) and sophomore Caira Watson-Haynes of Washington University. Ezewuzie (8.69) and Watson-Haynes (8.69) placed second and third, respectively.

Andrews, who broke her previous school mark of 8.70 seconds recorded at yesterday's preliminaries, is the second NCAA national champion in BSU history as she joins former track & field standout Chris Perry. Perry captured the national championship in the triple jump at the 2015 NCAA Division III Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

The Bears tied for 20th place in the team standings with ten points.

Notes: Andrews broke her own school record in the 60-meter hurdles six times this season.
