McNamara Leads Women's Indoor Track & Field at Valentine Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. -- Senior Madeline McNamara (Hull, Mass.) posted career-best marks in both the 200-meter dash and the long jump to lead the Bridgewater State University women's indoor track & field team at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University on Friday.

McNamara recorded a time of 26.90 seconds in the 200 to finish 147th out of a field of 223rd sprinters. She placed 32nd in the long jump with a leap of 16 feet. 0.50 inches (4.89m), and finished 24th in the 60-meter dash (8.23) and 34th in the triple jump (32'5"/9.88m).

Senior Kira Gilbreath (West Haven, Utah) placed 15th in the shot put with a toss of 38 feet, 1.25 inches (11.61m), while sophomore Jamelah Foster (Fall River, Mass.) finished 25th in the weight throw with a career-best mark of 42 feet, 1.50 inches (12.84m).

Freshman Camille Hanna (Milton, Vt.) equaled her career-best in the high jump with a leap of four feet, 11 inches (1.50m) to finished 30th in the event. Hanna also finished 35th in the triple jump (31'1.25"/9.48m) as she was competing in the event for the first time this season.

Sophomore Ashley Garvey (Woburn, Mass.), junior Molly Dewar (Grafton, Mass.), senior Emily Guyon (Hopedale, Mass.) and junior Jessica Haywood (East Longmeadow, Mass.) rounded out the Bears' competitors on Friday. Garvey finished 39th in the weight throw (35'2.50"/10.73m), Dewar 40th in the shot put (31'6.5"/9.61m), Guyon 91st in the 1,000-meter run (3:15.27) and Haywood 175th in the 800-meter run (2:33.55).

Next weekend, the Bears will compete at the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Championships hosted by Plymouth State University.
