Andrews Breaks School Mark, Garners All-New England Honors at NEICAAA Championships

ROXBURY, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior Jayci Andrews (Plymouth, Mass.) broke her own school record in the 60-meter hurdles and earned All-New England honors in the event on Saturday at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Indoor Track & Field Championships held at the Reggie Lewis Center.

Andrews posted a semifinal time of 8.90 seconds in the hurdles and then broke her own school record with a finals time of 8.80 seconds to place sixth in the event. The top eight placewinners in each individual event garner All-New England accolades.

Andrews, who was the lone Division III student-athlete competing in the 60-meter hurdles, eclipsed her previous record of 8.82 seconds set on Friday in the preliminaries. She is currently tied for second in all of Division III in the hurdles.

BSU senior Kira Gilbreath (West Haven, Utah) was slated to compete in the shot put but was scratched due to injury.

Next weekend, the BSU women's indoor track & field team will compete at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University.
